RULES AND STRATEGY IN SIDE EFFECTS
In Side Effects, two players (or you versus AI) take turns ingesting mysterious pills in a tense, turn-based survival match. Each pill may heal, deal damage, or trigger unpredictable side effects—such as gradual HP loss, item lock, or increased damage received. After each pill, your tolerance level increases, if it exceeds the limit, your game ends instantly. Managing this growing risk is key to staying alive and outlasting your opponent.
Besides pills, you have access to strategic items. You can use these items to defend yourself, disrupt your rival, bluff, or turn the tide—like swapping pills, deploying shields, or disabling your opponent’s item use. The winner is the last one standing. Success demands careful risk management, sharp observation of your opponent’s behavior, and smart timing to attack or play safe.
How to Controls
Use the mouse to:
- Select a pill to take (click on the desired pill)
- Activate strategic items (e.g. damage boosts, healing, effect blockers)
And if you want to start over, just press the Backspace key to restart the match from the beginning.
